Recycled Music Making
Bladnoch Folk & Blues Festival 2009..!

23/09/2009

Well, though this was an event ran over the August Bank Holiday and we've been busy spreading the news of our third anniversary the feedback from this workshop is so good we just had to pop it on the site.

August 29th and 30th seems long ago now school's started again but that weekend Workshop Network artist Michael Freeman ventured north to the Bladnoch Distillery in Wigtown, Bladnoch, Scotland. The family weekend features folk and blues musicians and its set in the beautiful site of the brewery plus there are arts, crafts and as you'd expect workshops for the festival goers to attend throughout, which sounds good to me!

Here's a little snippet from the excellent feedback we received for Michael’s Junk Music Workshops in which participants get to build and play various percussive instruments from reclaimed materials.

"We had very positive feedback from parents and children who took part in the workshops. The children loved having a go on the instruments & making their own to take home. The workshops were delivered in a relaxed, informative and friendly manner and were enjoyed by all who took part. When everyone was playing together it sounded fantastic and it was great that the children had something to take away from the workshops too."

Kind words indeed from Emma Barrass there! Thanks and we hope to be involved again next year.

Things are busy already at the start of year four for Workshop Network and we're taking bookings for January and February 2010 already!
