African dance

Learn dances from Africa including Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Guinea-Conakry, Mali and South Africa. All workshops are delivered by a highly experience teacher with over 15 years experience. That experience includes teaching GCSE dance, A level dance, BTEC performing arts, and the Creative & Media diploma. Workshops are delivered across the age and ability range.

Workshops include;

• The historical and cultural context of African dances
• Teaching of choreographic skills so participants can create their own work ‘in the style of’.
• Teaching of performance skills
• Teaching of appreciation skills
• Links with National Curriculum subjects and aims
• Delivery of INSET


Other dance styles taught;

• Jazz dance
• Contemporary dance
• Body percussion (Gumboot, Stepping, Stomp)
